Tom Wilson: Music

About The Shack Recordings

(Tom Wilson)
2005
Tom Wilson & Bob Lanois
With Tom, I really wanted to make a record that spoke from the heart and with such great songs we were already there. We got the kind of honesty from Tom that we all search for.

The sound that you hear from my harmonica is one of discovery and of the thrill of being allowed to collaborate with such a great poet.

- Bob Lanois

ABOUT THE SHACK RECORDINGS

The Shack Recording, a CD that will be released this summer, and the working magical relationship between Tom Wilson and Bob Lanois is the most natural artistic treatment of original songs to be heard in a long time.

The Album was made in Bob Lanois’ shack on a piece of land outside Hamilton, Ontario. The duo used ancient recording gear (owned by Bob and Daniel Lanois) which lent itself to the pure performance captured on two inch tape.

The 15 recording sessions took place over a year and a half which gave the material a chance to breathe rather then be choked. The result is a True Roots Field recoding.
